Prof. Dr. Ramakant Dwivedi’s unparalleled expertise in international relations, national security, and Eurasian studies has made him a key figure in shaping India’s foreign policy and strategic engagement across Central Asia and beyond.Prof. Dr. Ramakant Dwivedi is currently the Director of the India Central Asia Foundation (ICAF), New Delhi, and also serves as Professor and Head of the Centre of International Studies. He holds a PhD from the Central Asian Studies Division of the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Al-Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies, Tashkent (1998-2001) and later served as an Associate Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), New Delhi (2003-2007).Dr. Dwivedi has a distinguished career as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and Group Director of the Afghanistan, Central and West Asia Desk with the National Security Advisor’s Office, Prime Minister’s Office, Government of India (2007-2024). During his tenure, he managed a diverse range of national and international assignments. His research expertise spans national security, foreign policy, ethnic issues, and religious extremism in the Eurasian region, covering Russia, the Caucasus, and Central Asian countries.He holds a Diploma in Russian from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent, and a Diploma in Uzbek from the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies. Dr. Dwivedi has travelled extensively across the Eurasian region and was awarded the Nehru Memorial Scholarship for Doctoral Studies by the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library, New Delhi. He has represented India in 14 countries as a domain expert and part of official delegations for scholarly presentations.With a prolific academic output, Dr. Dwivedi has authored or edited nine books on international relations and published 41 research papers in national and international journals. He is fluent in Dari, Farsi, Russian, English, Hindi, and Urdu, with a functional knowledge of Uzbek.
